The Even Grumpier Old Rock Star Tour with Rick Wakeman is scheduled for 8:00 p.m., November 6, 2021 at the Orpheum Theatre.
Having made his name creating prog rock extravaganzas, in his solo shows Wakeman returns to his roots with a program packed with virtuosic piano performances and hilarious anecdotes, inspired by his 50-plus-year career. Repertoire will range from his solo works and his stints in the band YES through to his early days as a session musician playing keyboards on such classics as David Bowie’s “Life On Mars”, plus surprises like his unique interpretations of Beatles’ hits and many more memorable tunes, adapted for the grand piano. And all of this glorious music is punctuated by riotous reflections on his life and the people he’s met along the way. As he himself often observes, life is rarely dull when Rick Wakeman is around!

About Orpheum Theatre
The Orpheum holds a special place in American history as the first atmospheric theater in the United States and the oldest one still standing. It was constructed at an initial cost of $750,000 using the best possible building materials available at the time. It was truly built to last, and today it is still extremely structurally sound. Designed by noted theater architect John Eberson and conceived as a garden of old Andalusia, the theater interior was resplendent with the night sky and shimmering stars associated with atmospheric theaters. Adorned with decorative elements, plaster moldings and arched doorways, the 1200+ seat auditorium looked like a starlit Spanish courtyard.
Tickets may be purchased at the Orpheum Theatre Box Office located at the Northeast corner of 1st & Broadway within the theatre lobby, at the Select-A-Seat Box Office at INTRUST Bank Arena (500 E. Waterman, Wichita, KS 67202), or online at selectaseat.com.
