Wichita has over 150 public parks throughout the city open to the public with facilities for golf, tennis, volleyball, croquet, softball, soccer, picnics, fishing, boating, water skiing, fitness trails and bike paths.

College Hill ParkCollege Hill Park
This park in east Wichita consists of 22 acres of grass-covered and landscaped rolling topography. Concrete walks cross the park in convenient locations. There is a restroom facility, children’s playground, basketball/multi-use Court, shuffleboard courts, swimming pool, and tennis courts.

Chisholm Creek Park Nature Trail

A two-mile paved nature trail weaves through this 238-acred park with a mixture of grasslands, woods, streams and fields. Also available are two picnic shelters with tables and outdoor cooking grills, restrooms and a drinking fountain.

Located in the southeast corner of the park is the Great Plains Nature Center, providing opportunities to the public to learn about natural resources, especially the wildlife and plant species, of the Great Plains Region.

Located 20 minutes southwest of Wichita, the 720-acre park includes a 258-acre lake featuring fishing, boating and camping. The park has six shelter houses plus many large and small open shelters, five modern restrooms with showers, two RV sanitation disposal facilities, a boat ramp, three fishing docks, three swimming areas, and camping areas with and without electrical hookups. Also available is a grocery and bait store, shooting range and the Lake Afton Public Observatory .

Wichita RecreationO.J. Watson Park
119-acre park with 42 acres of water area. The park offers a rustic setting for fishing, picnicking, hayrack rides and more. Features include rented shelters for picnics, pony rides for children, peddle boats, miniature train ride and an 18-hole miniature golf course. Concessions and bait are available at the concession facility. Admission to the park is free, but a fee is charged for participation in some activities and all rides.
No rides available during the week.

Golf

Golf enthusiasts can choose from 18 public/private golf courses located in and around the city offering challenging levels of play for every golfer. Some of the older ones offer lovely, mature trees and lush growth, while the newer blend in with the wide, open spaces of the Kansas landscape.
