A beginner’s guide to basic electronics circuits
Most of the devices and equipment we use today uses electricity for power. If you want to know how to replace a fuse or repair a simple device, then knowledge of basic electronics circuits is essential. When an electrician is not available, you an apply what you learned about basic electronics circuits.

Circuits – The circuit is the path or flow of energy where electrons pass through coming from one terminal and reaching another terminal. The terminal can either be positive or negative. The flow happens using a single direction- negative to positive. In all cases, positive electrons always attract negative electrons; thus, opposites attract.

There are two types of circuits: series or parallel. The difference between series and parallel circuits is direction of flow; a series flows only one-way. You must have seen light bulbs that have totally stopped just because one bulb is busted. This is an example of series circuit. Conversely, parallel circuits have one or two more paths available for electricity. Thus, you would see some your Christmas light bulbs working even if some of the bulbs are busted. Typically, electricians use basic series circuit for wiring in houses. Almost all consumer appliances are built with parallel circuits because it’s more stable.

Conductor – This is made up of a material where electrons can pass through. In most cases, copper is used due to high conductivity. This means that it can efficiently transmit current between terminals.

Insulator – It simply insulates the conductor by wrapping around it. It is commonly made up of rubber material. Definitely, you wouldn’t want to hold or even touch live wires. Insulation coats the conductor.
