Discover and enjoy the treasures of museums on the river at the Wichita Art Museum, Kansas’ largest art museum.

The museum was established in 1915, when Louise Murdock’s Will which created a trust to start the Roland P. Murdock Collection of art in memory of her husband.  The City of Wichita joined forces with the community to complete another expansion project to bring the total square footage to 115,000. The new addition, finished in June 2003, provided more exhibition space, a new restaurant, gift shop, research library, and much needed art services area.

Three centuries of American masterpieces from the nationally renowned Roland P. Murdock Collection are just the beginning. Your visit will be an extraordinary one as you tour three floors of galleries as well as the outdoor sculpture deck and grounds. Artists whose works are represented include Edward Hopper, Mary Cassatt, Winslow Homer, Thomas Eakins, Stuart Davis, Arthur G. Dove, Robert Henri, Yasuo Kuniyshoi, John Marin, Paul Meltsner, Horace Pippin, Maurice Prendergast, Albert Pinkham Ryder, Charles Sheeler, and Jacob Lawrence. The Museum’s lobby features a ceiling and chandelier made by Dale Chihuly.
